This is definitely NOT a very attractive picture, but I thought it was funny to get a full side profile of the "bump" at 38 weeks! It is HUGE! It is still hard to believe there is a little baby in there....and even harder to believe that we'll be meeting him in a matter of days!
This is how I spent the day on Sunday at my brother and Andrea's pool. It has been very warm the past few days (90 degrees plus, with lots of humidity), so I floated in the pool for most of the afternoon! It was heavenly.
- How far along? 38 weeks
- Baby size: Baby is still the size of a watermelon. At my ultrasound last Tuesday they said he was 7 pounds!
- Maternity clothes? The UPS man just dropped off a little box from Nordstrom with a few flowy, non-materity shirts I ordered for after the little one arrives. Can't wait for regular clothes!!!
- Stretch marks? Still none. Just the yucky scars from where my pump goes in on either side of my stomach. Hopefully those will heal up!
- Sleep: Still up and down several times a night.
- Best moment this week: Chris and I went to a Tiger's game with some friends on Friday, and it was lots of fun! We had a really fun group of people with us. I love Comerica. And the hot dogs there. :) Also, Chris and I had a little date night dinner on Saturday. We talked a lot about the baby and what we might want to name him! It was nice to have some alone time - it seems like we have been pretty busy lately! And we won't be having too many dinners alone a few days from now!! :)
- Miss anything? I am looking forward to being more comfortable once he arrives! He is getting so big that it is increasingly uncomfortable each day. And looking forward to normal size feet!! I do think I will really miss being pregnant though. I have loved carrying him the past 9 months!
- Movement: Definitely way less movement. I guess it is normal at this point though!
- Food cravings: Nothing at the moment!
- Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope.
- Gender: Boy! :)
- Labor signs: Still having Braxton Hicks, and a few real contractions, too. So THAT'S what those feel like. :) Basically like pretty serious period cramps. I am very crampy and my back is quite sore, too. Good signs that things are progressing!
- Symptoms: Lots and lots of swelling - hands, feet, face....you name it. Also my back has reached a new level of sore! I tried to clean the house yesterday morning and had to sit down because I was in a lot of pain. It's tough because I am not the best at sitting down and "resting". There are still so many things I want to do before the baby arrives!
- Belly button in or out? Out.
- Wedding rings on or off? Real ones are still off! My hands are much too huge!
- Happy or moody most of the time? Happy!
- Looking forward to: Meeting Baby Wallbank early next week or SOONER! :) We went to the doctor yesterday, and the plan is to induce labor Sunday evening. My doctors like to take things slow with the induction process to reduce the risk of c-section and baby's heart rate dropping. Even though we'll go to the hospital Sunday night, we probably won't be holding our new arrival in our arms until Monday at the earliest. It could even be a few days! That being said, things could progress on their own much sooner, too! No one knows what baby's plan is in there... :)
- Diabetes update: Still needing less insulin. This can be a sign that your placenta is deteriorating, which happens much earlier in diabetics than in non-diabetics. It makes me anxious to have this little guy so I can make sure he is safe and sound! I trust that I am in good hands with my doctors down at Beaumont, though. I pray everything will go smoothly!
