38 Weeks

This is definitely NOT a very attractive picture, but I thought it was funny to get a full side profile of the "bump" at 38 weeks!  It is HUGE!  It is still hard to believe there is a little baby in there....and even harder to believe that we'll be meeting him in a matter of days!

This is how I spent the day on Sunday at my brother and Andrea's pool.  It has been very warm the past few days (90 degrees plus, with lots of humidity), so I floated in the pool for most of the afternoon!  It was heavenly.
  • How far along?  38 weeks
  • Baby size:  Baby is still the size of a watermelon.  At my ultrasound last Tuesday they said he was 7 pounds!
  • Maternity clothes?  The UPS man just dropped off a little box from Nordstrom with a few flowy, non-materity shirts I ordered for after the little one arrives.  Can't wait for regular clothes!!!
  • Stretch marks?  Still none.  Just the yucky scars from where my pump goes in on either side of my stomach.  Hopefully those will heal up!
  • Sleep:  Still up and down several times a night.
  • Best moment this week:  Chris and I went to a Tiger's game with some friends on Friday, and it was lots of fun!  We had a really fun group of people with us.  I love Comerica.  And the hot dogs there. :)  Also, Chris and I had a little date night dinner on Saturday.  We talked a lot about the baby and what we might want to name him!  It was nice to have some alone time - it seems like we have been pretty busy lately!  And we won't be having too many dinners alone a few days from now!! :)
  • Miss anything?  I am looking forward to being more comfortable once he arrives!  He is getting so big that it is increasingly uncomfortable each day.  And looking forward to normal size feet!! I do think I will really miss being pregnant though.  I have loved carrying him the past 9 months!
  • Movement:  Definitely way less movement.  I guess it is normal at this point though!
  • Food cravings:  Nothing at the moment!
  • Anything making you queasy or sick:  Nope.
  • Gender:  Boy! :)
  • Labor signs:  Still having Braxton Hicks, and a few real contractions, too.  So THAT'S what those feel like. :) Basically like pretty serious period cramps.  I am very crampy and my back is quite sore, too.  Good signs that things are progressing!
  • Symptoms:  Lots and lots of swelling - hands, feet, face....you name it.  Also my back has reached a new level of sore!  I tried to clean the house yesterday morning and had to sit down because I was in a lot of pain.  It's tough because I am not the best at sitting down and "resting".  There are still so many things I want to do before the baby arrives!
  • Belly button in or out?  Out.
  • Wedding rings on or off?  Real ones are still off!  My hands are much too huge!
  • Happy or moody most of the time?  Happy!
  • Looking forward to:  Meeting Baby Wallbank early next week or SOONER! :)  We went to the doctor yesterday, and the plan is to induce labor Sunday evening.  My doctors like to take things slow with the induction process to reduce the risk of c-section and baby's heart rate dropping.  Even though we'll go to the hospital Sunday night, we probably won't be holding our new arrival in our arms until Monday at the earliest.  It could even be a few days!  That being said, things could progress on their own much sooner, too!  No one knows what baby's plan is in there... :)
  • Diabetes update:  Still needing less insulin.  This can be a sign that your placenta is deteriorating, which happens much earlier in diabetics than in non-diabetics.  It makes me anxious to have this little guy so I can make sure he is safe and sound!  I trust that I am in good hands with my doctors down at Beaumont, though.  I pray everything will go smoothly!

37 Weeks - Full Term!

I am 37 weeks pregnant this week, which is considered full term.  If Baby Wallbank was born today, he would be healthy and ready for the world!  The last few weeks in the womb (38-40 weeks) are mainly spent putting on weight.  All the crucial development is done at this point, which puts my mind at ease.  I don't have to worry about him coming too early anymore!

Speaking of when Baby will make his grand entrance, I went to the doctor this past week and got some exciting news.  The initial plan was for me to be induced at 39 weeks (if he hadn't arrived already).  This would have been any day after June 30th.  When the doctor did an exam this past week, though, she decided it would be better to induce at 38 weeks.  So that means he will be arriving NEXT WEEK!!!  So soon!  I am anxiously awaiting a call from Beaumont early next week to schedule the induction date for the week of June 24th.  Hopefully they will have some openings.  How does June 25th sound for a birthday? :)

  • How far along?  37 weeks
  • Baby size:  Baby is the size of a watermelon.
  • Maternity clothes?  Yes!  Looking forward to some regular clothes soon. :)
  • Stretch marks?  Still none.  Hopefully they don't show up after delivery.
  • Sleep:  Sleeping has not been ideal.  I am up and down a lot in the night to go to the bathroom, and I am just uncomfortable.  It is tough to get a good night's sleep.  I guess Baby W is continuing to prepare me for his arrival! ;)
  • Best moment this week:  Hearing that things were progressing well at the doctor.  Also, SCHOOLS OUT FOR SUMMER!!!  The last day was Wednesday - yay!
  • Miss anything?  Not really - it is all so worth it! <3
  • Movement:  He is moving less these days.  I can tell he is running out of room in there!  When he does move, it is more deliberate and I can almost always tell which body part is moving.
  • Food cravings:  Grapes.
  • Anything making you queasy or sick:  Coffee is not smelling or tasting good again.
  • Gender:  Boy! :)
  • Labor signs:  Still lots of Braxton Hicks.  The doctor says I am 80% effaced and baby's head is very low!
  • Symptoms:  My feet have reached a new level of enormousness!  They are so swollen!
  • Belly button in or out?  Out.
  • Wedding rings on or off?  Still rocking the cubic zirconia so my real rings don't get stuck!
  • Happy or moody most of the time?  Happy!
  • Looking forward to:  Ultrasounds on Monday and Tuesday to make sure Baby is ready for his arrival into the world!
  • Diabetes update:  My insulin requirements have tapered off.  Things are still looking good with my A1C and thyroid levels.  I am beginning to plan for after baby arrives and how I will change my doses.  More to come on that later!

Nursery and Names!

Baby Wallbank will be here so soon, and we are almost ready!  We have been working on his nursery - slowly but surely.  We decided to go with the "Sweet Lambie" theme, and I love the way it turned out!  I feel like the room is very peaceful and calm, which is just the way it seems like a nursery should be.

Here are some pictures of the finished room!
 The nursery!

 Maggie's special spot. :)

I love his crib.  Just missing the bumper (Pottery Barn discontinued it, so not sure what we are going to do yet!  Ugh!).

Baby Wallbank will be a well dressed boy!

6-9 and 9-12 month clothes

0-3 and 3-6 month clothes

Diaper drawer is stocked and ready with diapers and pee-pee tee-pees! :)

Aside from getting the nursery ready, we are also trying to make a final decision on a name for Baby Wallbank.  We have a list of about 5 names that we like.  We are going to wait until he arrives and see which name we think fits him best!

Anyone have any baby boy names they think we should add to our list?!  Maybe there is one we haven't thought of yet that will be perfect!! :)
